Exynos 1280 vs Snapdragon 695: Which One is Better?
Samsung recently announced their new A series of smartphones: Galaxy A33 and Galaxy A53. These smartphones are powered by the new Samsung in-house chipset, the Exynos 1280. It is based on Samsung’s 5nm fabrication system. Snapdragon also released their new mid-range chipset in October 2021. Redmi Note 11 Pro+ and POCO X4 Pro are some of the devices powered by Snapdragon 695 5G.
The two chips have their own Pros and Cons which makes it difficult to say if one is better than the other. Here is a comparison between the two chips to help you choose the right one for you.

Exynos 1280 vs Snapdragon 695 5G
The Exynos 1280 is an 8-core processor with 2x 2.4 GHz – Cortex-A78 and 6x 2 GHz – Cortex-A55 cores and Mali G68 GPU. It is based on a 5nm fabrication process. The Snapdragon 695 5G is also an 8-core processor with 2x 2.2 GHz – Kryo 660 Gold (Cortex-A78) and 6x 1.7 GHz – Kryo 660 Silver (Cortex-A55) cores and Adreno 619 GPU. It is based on TSMC’s 6nm fabrication process.
The Exynos 1280 has a lower Antutu score of 384K when compared to the 403K on Snapdragon 695. The Exynos 1280 has a worse CPU performance possibly due to Samsung’s fabrication process. The Exynos 1280 has decent performance but can cause performance drops and lags due to Samsung’s node. The Exynos 1280 is more power-hungry too. It takes almost twice the power to deliver a similar performance to the Snapdragon 695 5G. The Snapdragon 695, however, while scoring higher than the Exynos 1280, provides stunning performance with less power consumption. This makes the Snapdragon chip 2X more efficient than the Exynos.
On GeekBench 5, the Exynos 1280 scores higher than the Snapdragon 695 in single-core but the Snapdragon precedes the Exynos 1280 in multi-core by a difference of 6%.
The CPU performance of the Exynos 1280 may not be great but the GPU performance is certainly better than the Snapdragon 695’s. The Mali-G68 M4 GPU performs very well. On 3DMark’s Wild Life Extreme test, the Exynos 1280 scores 640 while the Snapdragon 695 scores 362. It manages to be 25% more efficient as well.
The Exynos 1280 can record and play videos up to 4K 60FPS while the Snapdragon 695 caps out at 1080p 60FPS. The Exynos 1280 also has an advantage on the memory front as it supports LPDDR5 versus the LPDDR4X on the Snapdragon 695. The Exynos 1280 supports UFS 3.1 storage type versus the UFS 2.2/eMMC 5.1 on the Snapdragon 695. Both chips are 5G equipped and support Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
Which One is Better?
The Snapdragon 695 is superior in most aspects but the Exynos 1280 is not behind. The Exynos 1280 beats the Snapdragon 695 in GPU performance and various other aspects. Lastly, if you are a gamer then do note that developers optimize games for Snapdragon processors more often than for Exynos.
