Exynos 9611 vs Snapdragon 712 vs Helio G90T: Which One is Better?

Samsung Galaxy M30s and Galaxy M31 were launched with the Exynos 9611 processor. They are the direct competitor to the Realme 5 Pro and Redmi Note 8 Pro with Snapdragon 712 and Helio G90T processor respectively. So how will the Exynos 9611 fare against the likes of these high powered ones? Let’s get into an in-depth comparison between Exynos 9611 vs Snapdragon 712 vs Helio G90T to get a clear picture here.

Hardware & Performance

The Samsung’s Exynos 9611 comes with an octa-core setup with four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.7 GHz whereas Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 712 comes with their customized versions of Cortex-A75 and Cortex-A55 cores here. There are eight cores, two Kryo 360 Gold(Cortex-A75) cores clocked at 2.3 GHz and six Kryo 360 Silver(Cortex-A55) cores clocked at 1.7 GHz. On the other hand, MediaTek’s Helio G90T comes with an octa-core setup with two Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.05 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz. The six A55 cores are efficiency cores while the two A76 cores are performance cores.

Furthermore, the Exynos 9611 has the Mali-G72 MP3 built on the 2nd generation of Bifrost architecture to boost up the graphics-intensive tasks. The Snapdragon has the latest Adreno 616 and the Helio G90T has the Arm Mali-G76 3EEMC4 which along with Mediatek’s hyper engine gaming technology claims to provide the best gaming experience. Here overall though, the Adreno performs better in real-life experience and also proves to be very power efficient.

The fabrication on the Exynos 9611 processor is of 10nm, the Snapdragon 712 also has a 10nm manufacturing, but the helio G90T still has a 12 nm fabrication. This on paper makes the Helio G90T less power efficient than the other two competitors. All three of them provide support for LPDDR4X RAM, along with support for UFS 2.1 storage unit for faster read and write speeds.

Camera and Display

Exynos 9611 processor supports dual camera setup with a 16MP + 16MP or a single 64MP camera support while the Snapdragon 712 supports a 192MP single camera or a dual 16MP +16MP setup, which gives the Snapdragon 712 an advantage over the Exynos 9611 in terms of better single-camera setup. Now for the Helio G90T, we get single camera support of 64MP and dual-camera support of 24MP + 16MP lenses. All of them are capable of shooting videos at 4K but the Exynos 9611 can record slow-motion videos at 480 fps.

In the display department, the Snapdragon has edge over the other two as it supports up to a resolution of 1440 x 3360 QHD+ pixels. While with both the Exynos 9611 and Helio G90T, the maximum support is limited to a resolution of FHD+. The Exynos 9611 supports up to 1600 x 2560 pixels while the G90T supports up to 2520 x 1080 pixels.

Benchmark Scores

Geekbench

For Geekbench v5.1, the Snapdragon 712 scores a single-core score of 345 points and a multi-core score of 1373 points. Then we have the Exynos 9611 achieving a single-core score of 305 points and a multi-core score of 1177 points. Finally, we have the Helio G90T scoring 490 points in single-core testing and 1628 points in multi-core testing. Here the Exynos 9611 stands at last with the G90T leading the race. The Snapdragon 712 sits somewhere between the Helio G90T and the Exynos 9611.

Antutu

Now for Antutu, we have the Snapdragon 712 on Realme 5 Pro scoring 1,82,765 points, whereas the Helio G90T on Redmi Note 8 Pro and Exynos 9611 on Galaxy M30s manages a score of 2,83,092 points and 1,70,068 points respectively. Here the Helio G90T has a clear advantage over the Qualcomm and Samsung’s chipset.  In Antutu also, G90T is the clear winner.

Which One is Better Processor?

In terms of power, the Helio G90T blows the other two off. It may be less efficient than the other two, but if gaming is your priority on a budget, then the Redmi Note 8 Pro is the device for you. Now for the Exynos 9611 on Galaxy M30s and M31 is probably one of the best chips from Samsung for their mid-range devices with fewer lags for gamers with enhanced graphics processing performance. It can’t get ahead of the G90T on benchmark tests, but the other specifications suggest that it is a very powerful and capable chip. Now the Snapdragon 712 on Realme 5 Pro seems like a slacker when compared to the other two in terms of benchmark scores, but the optimizations thrown in from Qualcomm might just prove this as a better chip than the other two in real-life usage. Here’s the comparison between Galaxy M30s, Realme 5 Pro and Redmi Note 8 Pro here to decide which one is the best device for you. If you want a Qualcomm’s gaming chipset on a premium mid-range phone then you can choose between Realme X2 and Poco X2 which are powered by Snapdragon 730G SoC and has better GPU (Adreno 618) than Helio G90T SoC’s Mali-G76 GPU.
