Lenovo Smartphone with 95% Screen-to-Body Ratio Teased
A notched display is one of the hottest smartphone trends this year, and the trend of borderless smartphones is catching up soon. Vivo launched the APEX smartphone in MWC 2018, while ZTE teased an image of an upcoming smartphone on Weibo with a borderless design and Full Screen 3.0. The next-in-line manufacturer could be the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Lenovo. Today, the company’s vice president, Chang-Cheng, teased a “full-screen” smartphone on its official account on the Chinese media platform Weibo, and not only does it come with a borderless look, but it manages to work without a notch, too.
The image reveals one half of the smartphone, which looks like a blue-colored smartphone with no notch. A question from Chang Chaeng accompanied the image, asking users what they think a full-screen smartphone is
- 80-84 % screen ratio
- 85-89 % screen ratio
- 90-94 % screen ratio
Lenovo’s VP further confirms that the upcoming smartphone will cross the 95% barrier and deliver a full-screen smartphone experience with no side or upper bezels. This means the smartphone will have one of the highest screen-to-body ratios in the market and feature a design completely different from what we have seen on the likes of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S and the Vivo APEX smartphone.
The smartphone may be the closest thing we can compare with a true-bezel-less display. Few smartphones are available, with a more than 85% screen-to-body ratio. Even the Vivo APEX smartphone’s score is 91%, while the Essential phone has 84.9%. We are unsure about the lower bezel, though, as it was not shown in the teaser image.
The smartphone in the teaser contains the numbers 14 and 6, which may hint that the smartphone will be unveiled on June 14. However, there is no official confirmation, and it may launch sooner. Currently, no other information is available regarding the smartphone’s specs, price, or availability.
