List of Phones with MediaTek Helio G96 Processor to Buy in 2022

MediaTek has officially announced its new mid-range 4G chipset namely MediaTek Helio G96. The chipset will succeed the last year’s MediaTek Helio G95 chipset. It’s worth mentioning that this all is a 4G-based chipset and doesn’t support 5G network connectivity option. For 5G phones, MediaTek Dimensity processors are already there. The chipset also doesn’t bring any major upgrade over the MediaTek Helio G95 chipset. Here we will discuss the G96 chipset and its best features. Also, let’s find out which phones will adopt this chipset.

MediaTek Helio G96 SoC Features

As for the specifications, the Helio G96 chipset offers a 2X Cortex A76 CPU clocked at 2.05GHz and a 6X Cortex A55 CPU. The CPU Part is similar when compared to Helio G95. When it comes to GPU, It’s a clear downgrade as the Mali G76 MC4 GPU is now Mali G57 MC2. The chipset now supports up to an FHD+ resolution display with a 120Hz display. The display can be either AMOLED or LCD. The RAM support is still capped at LPDDR4x at 2133Mhz. It now supports up to UFS 2.2 storage.

For the camera, it will now support a 108-megapixels sensor instead of 64-megapixels on G95. Still, it can record video up to 4K at 30FPS only. The network connectivity part has been improved as it now supports Cat 13 LTE Modem. It now supports Bluetooth V5.2 and Wi-Fi part remains the same i.e. Wi-Fi 5 (a/b/g/n/ac). MediaTek is teasing the chipset by saying “Powerful 4G Smartphones with Exciting 120Hz Displays and Immense 108MP Cameras”.

While MediaTek is teasing the chipset for its display and camera capabilities, It’s true but it doesn’t bring any major upgrade when compared to Mediatek Helio G95. The CPU part remains the same but GPU has been downgraded. There’s no information that to which brand is going to launch its device with this chipset first. But we expect the brands like Realme and Xiaomi to come up with this chipset soon.
