List of Phones with Snapdragon 780G Processor to Buy in 2022

Qualcomm has a new 5G processor under the Snapdragon 700 series, and this will be the new best mid-range processor from Qualcomm. It is called the Snapdragon 780G 5G, and it comes with improvements in terms of CPU, GPU, AI Engine, ISP, and more. The company claims that the Kryo 670 CPU that comes with the processor is 40% greater in performance. They did not give specific details about the reference point, but this is the same core that we see on the flagship Snapdragon 888 too. But that processor has the Cortex-X1 prime processor too. The Snapdragon 780G misses out on that. The company claims that the phones powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G chipset will be released in Q2 2021.

Here is the list of Snapdragon 780G powered phones

  • Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G
  • Xiaomi 12 Lite (Rumoured)
  • Xiaomi 12 Lite Zoom (Rumoured)
  • Xiaomi Mi CC11 (Rumoured)
  • Nokia 8.4 5G (Rumoured)

March 29: Xiaomi has unveiled Mi 11 Lite 5G as the world’s first smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G SoC. It sports a 6.55-inch 90Hz AMOLED panel of Full HD+ resolution. We can see a single punch hole in the top left corner of the display where a 16MP selfie camera is placed. The main rear camera unit is a 64MP f/1.8 shooter.

Snapdragon 780G processor features

This new 780G processor is also built on Samsung’s 5nm manufacturing process, much like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. This is an octa-core processor which consists of two Cortex-A78 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and six power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. As for the GPU, we will see the Adreno 642, which brings support for True 10-bit HDR gaming, ultra-smooth gaming, and updateable GPU drivers. The display adapter can drive 1080p+ displays up to 144Hz.

The Snapdragon 780G has a triple spectrum 570 ISP that allows for image streams from three cameras simultaneously. This will allow for simultaneous image streams from wide, ultrawide and telephoto if a manufacturer decides to try something new in a mid-range smartphone. This ISP can record in several HDR formats, and it can provide 10-bit colour depth for photos as well as videos. It supports a single camera of up to 84MP with the Zero Shutter Lag enabled or a single camera of up to 192MP under normal conditions.

The Hexagon 770 AI can perform 15 TOPS which is a huge jump from Snapdragon 768G’s 5.4 TOPS. This will allow manufacturers to pick up a mid-range processor while maintaining excellent image processing for high-quality images.

Regarding connectivity, the X53 5G modem found with the Snapdragon 780G offers peak download speeds of up to 3.3 Gbps. It also has the latest FastConnect 6900 system for local connectivity. The chip supports Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax on the 6 GHz band), Bluetooth 5.2, USB 3.1 for data delivery and Quick Charge 4+ for faster charging.
