Moto X4 Launched in India with Dual Cameras, Amazon Alexa Support Starting at Rs 20,999

Motorola has finally launched the X series smartphone Moto X in India. The smartphone was first announced in September this year at IFA Berlin. The device went through lots of hiccups before its launch. It was set to release on October 3, but due to mysterious reasons, the launch was canceled, and then the company gave a new release date. The Moto X4 is a mid-range device and will continue the legacy of the Moto X series, launched in 2013 and best known for its unique customizable design and clean software.

In terms of design, the smartphone is good-looking with the contoured back panel design and has a premium feel with a metal and glass body, something scarce in this price range. This is a massive upgrade from the previous X series smartphones, made of plastic or rubber. The front side is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which houses the 5.2-inch full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) LTPS IPS display with 424 ppi pixel density and the fingerprint sensor. There are also capacitive buttons for back, home, and multi-tasking. The smartphone will be available in Super Black and Sterling Blue color variants. The smartphone comes with gestures like a 3-finger swipe for screenshots, a built-in password manager called Moto Key, one-button navigation, Moto Display, Moto Voice, which allows the phone to stream music wirelessly to up to 4 Bluetooth headphones or speakers, pre-loaded Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa and IP68 dust and water resistance.

In the optics department, the rear has a dual camera setup containing a 12 MP primary main sensor and an 8 MP sensor, which captures wide-angle shots. The primary 12 MP camera contains dual-pixel autofocus, an f/2.0 lens, and 1.4 nm pixels, while the 8 MP sensor has an f/2.2 lens and 1.12nm pixels and offers a 120-degree field of view. The cameras provide various modes and features like professional mode, depth detection, depth effects, bokeh shots, ultra-wide angle shots, selective black and white, background replacement, scan barcodes/QR codes/Business cards, spot color, landmark/object recognition, panorama mode, slow motion video, and best shot and recording 4K videos. Several other camera features include a phase-detection feature, correlated color temperature (CCT) dual LED flash, and PDA. On the front, the device offers a 16 MP camera for selfies and video calling. It has an f/2.0 aperture, 1-micron pixels, an LED flash, and features like professional mode, selfie panorama, face filters, and beautification mode.

The Moto X4 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset clocked at 2.2 GHz and an Adreno 508 GPU. There are two memory variants: 3 GB RAM + 32 GB internal storage and 4GB RAM + 64 GB internal storage. There is also an option for expandable memory up to 2 TB using the micro SD slot. The device runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and is backed by a 3000 mAh battery with fast charging support. Motorola claims it runs all day and can charge up to 60% in 15 minutes. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (dual-band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz), GPS, GLONASS, NFC and FM radio. The smartphone also comes with an array of sensors like a proximity sensor, magnetometer, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and gyroscope.

The Moto X4 is priced at Rs 20,999 for the 3 GB variant and Rs 22,999  for the 4 GB variant, which puts up against the likes of Vivo V7, OPPO F5, and Honor 9i. It will be sold initially via Flipkart from 11.59 PM onwards and later available at Motorola’s offline MotoHub and other retail stores. A launch offer is also there on Flipkart with additional Rs. 2,500 discount on exchanging your old smartphone and Rs 3,000 if it is a selected Moto smartphone, up to 10 % off with HDFC Bank credit and debit cards, a Buyback Guarantee of 50 % of the smartphone’s value, and EMI schemes.
