Samsung Android 12 One UI 4.0 Update: Eligible Phones & Release Date

Samsung polished their UI with One UI 3.0 and with that they also improved their update cycle. A few years ago Samsung struggled to push out Android updates to its budget and mid-range smartphone on time, but that is not the case anymore. We already have A series and M series Samsung phones running on One UI 3.0. Other Samsung smartphones are also getting the One UI 3.1.

Samsung Android 12 (One UI 4.0) Update Tracker

September 9: Samsung has postponed One UI 4.0 Beta Program for Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Earlier, the Samsung rep had officially confirmed the beta testing for the One UI 4.0 based Android 12 will start from September 09. Now the company has changed in the plan. So we have to wait for a little longer to join the beta testing.

Will your Samsung Galaxy phones get an Android 12 update?

It is good to see Samsung not slacking off with its updates, especially after the company recently said that some Samsung smartphones will be receiving three major Android updates. This means that Android 12 is coming to smartphones that are released even with Android 9 out of the box. The company will likely name it the One UI 4.0 with Android 12 running in the heart of it.

What is Samsung One UI 4.0?

One UI 4.0 is the upcoming Android custom skin from Samsung with a lot of exciting new features. It is a software overlay developing by Samsung for its Smartphones running Android 12. The new One UI 4.0 update will let you customize your Samsung mobile experience with creativity.

Release Date

  • The stable Android 12 update with One UI 4.0 for Samsung Galaxy phones will likely be released in October 2021.

Coming to Android 12, Google recently launched the developer preview edition of the upcoming Android version and it will follow it up with a beta version before going ahead with the stable one.

Google has released the developer preview version of Android 12 only for Pixel devices right now to give application developers enough time to work on their application such that it will work on the upcoming OS version. The Beta version of Android 12 will come in May followed by the stable version in the month of August. Some Android manufacturers have joined Google in their Beta program and they too launch a beta version of their UI running on Beta Android 12 before coming out with the stable build.

Samsung is not one of those manufacturers though. Samsung releases its beta version of One UI only after Google has released the stable build of the OS. So we can expect to see Beta builds of One UI 4.0 in the month of August(probably in the later phase), and then see the stable build of One UI 2.0 releasing within the next couple of months.

We will see the flagship Note and S series devices of 2021 first run on OneUI 4.0, and then the rest of eligible S and Note series devices of previous years will get the update. Following that the rest of the Samsung smartphones will receive the One UI 4.0 update running on Android 12.
