Seven Huawei Devices to Get Android 8.0 Oreo Update
It’s been almost a year since Android 8.0 Oreo was released; manufacturers are still working on the updates for their respective smartphones. Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei announced its first Android 8.0 Oreo plans in October at the Mate 10 launch. Today, Huawei and its sub-brand announced the Android 8.0 Oreo beta for the following smartphones: Huawei Mate 8. Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus, Honor 8, Honor V8, Honor Note 8, and the Honor 6X on the Huawei Club (Chinese) forum. The Oreo updates are also expected to roll out in other markets beyond China.
The most controversial phone on the list is the Honor 8, with the company itself stating that the smartphone will not get the Oreo update and settle for an EMUI 8.0 feature update. Later, it was found out the company was testing the Oreo update in China, and now it is confirmed that the old flagship will finally be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo.
The new EMUI 8 update for the Huawei and Honor smartphones will include a machine learning base with cool features like Awareness, User Behaviour, Intelligent Resource Allocation, and more. Moreover, it also contains additional perks like low memory management and quick file-sharing abilities. It’s likely to include functional features like one hand operation navigation dock, private space optimisation, access to recently deleted items, and dynamic wallpaper. The smartphones will also benefit from the Android 8.0 Oreo-like notification dots, autofill passwords, Picture-in-Picture, and the latest security patch. Smartphones will have less stutter due to AI prediction and RAM optimization.
It is good to hear that these devices are not being ignored even after some were launched more than a year ago. We hope the company will be doing the same to the other smartphones in its portfolio.
