Sony Xperia L2, XA2 and XA2 Ultra Unveiled at CES 2018

Japanese smartphone manufacturer Sony will start this year with a bang by rolling out three devices- the Xperia L2, Xperia XA2, and the Xperia XA2 Ultra. These smartphones were unveiled at CES 2018, and the three devices feature Qnovo Adaptive Charging. A few days ago, official renders of the Xperia devices surfaced on the web. Let’s take a look at the specs of these smartphones.

The new Xperia L2 is an entry-level smartphone and is the successor of the Xperia L1 launched last year. The smartphone comes with image-enhanced Technology, sports a 5.5-inch HD ( 1280 x 720 pixels) display, and is powered by a Quad-core MediaTek MT6737T processor. The device offers an 8 MP camera with f/2.4 aperture and a 120-degree wide-angle front sensor while offering a 13 MP rear sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The device provides 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal space and is backed by a 3,300 mAh battery.

The Xperia XA2 doesn’t have a modern look with minimal bezels but sports a 5.2-inch FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC. It contains 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The device offers an 8 MP front camera with f/2.4 wide-angle lens and ¼ inch Exmor R 120-degree mobile image sensor while offering a 23 MP Exmor RS camera sensor of ½.3 inch size and f/2.0 wide-angle lens. The device will be available in pink, blue, silver, and black options. The device measures 142 x 70 x 9.7 mm and weighs 171 g. It will also come with a 3.5 mm jack and a USB Type-C port on the bottom. It is backed by a 3,300 mAh battery.

As far as the bigger Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra is concerned, it sports a large 6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 SoC, 4 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage. In the optics department, the device offers a dual-camera setup in the front consisting of a 16 MP and an 8 MP while offering the same 23 MP Exmor RS camera sensor of ½.3 inch size and f/2.0 wide-angle lens. The device will be available in gold, blue, black, and silver options and is backed by a 3580 mAh battery.

All three smartphones will have protection from Corning Gorilla Glass. In contrast, the Xperia XA2 and the Xperia XA2 Ultra will have the company’s proprietary SteadyShot functionality, hybrid autofocus, and 4K video recording. Unlike the past Xperia smartphones with side-mounted fingerprint sensors, these smartphones will have rear-mounted fingerprint scanners. They will be available with Android 7.1 Nougat but will likely get an Oreo update later. Regarding availability, the Xperia L2 will go on sale in India by the end of this month, while the latter two will be available from the beginning of next month. The XA2 Ulta and L2 will also be available in single SIM and dual SIM models in different markets.
