Update 01/06/2021: Last week, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that Google is closely working with Jio on the initiative of building an affordable smartphone. Currently, Jio has two affordable 4G feature phones on its portfolio namely Jio Phone and Jio Phone 2. Both handsets came with a 2000mAh battery. Now it looks the upcoming Jio Phone (Jio Phone 3?) will be backed by a 3000mAh battery. We have spotted a new Jio battery model LS1542QW on the TUV certification database with a 2920mAh rated battery capacity. The typical battery capacity could be 3000mAh.
In the past couple of years, Mukesh Ambani led company Reliance Jio has not only disrupted the telecom industry of India but has also changed how mobile phone companies think about the feature phone segment. Reliance Jio has launched Jio Phone and Jio Phone 2 and received a massive positive response. The company has sold 70 million Jio Phones in just 2 years. During the AGM 2020, Reliance Jio has confirmed that they have partnered with Google to bring affordable 4G and 5G Smartphones to India. These devices will run on an Android-based Operating System. With Google, Jio wants India to be “2G Mukt”. To achieve this, Google will invest INR 33,737 crores in Reliance Jio. However, as of now, there is no information about whether the upcoming Jio-Google phone will be called Jio Phone 3 or a different name.

At the very beginning, we would like to inform you that, Reliance Jio itself has not described or announced anything about Jio Phone 3 publicly. But BeetelBite, a tech news site, claimed to have a conversation with one of the Jio executive who disclosed few details about the upcoming Jio’s smartphone to them.
Price In India
The prices of the previous two JioPhone models were kind of ok, and they also came with bundled data, voice calling and SMS plans. But according to that Jio executive, the upcoming Jio Phone 3 will cost a bit more than the previous ones. The chance is very high that the Jio Phone 3 price will be around Rs 4,500. But apart from that, we will also see some significant improvement over the other generations as the new one will be a smartphone and not a feature phone like the previous ones.
Specifications and Features
Unlike previous JioPhones, this all-new Jio Phone 3 is going to be a smartphone. So, it will be more powerful and may give tough competition to other smartphone companies who are operating under the Rs 5,000 price bracket. Reportedly, the device will come with a 5-inch large touch display. Compared to its price, the storage capacity will be good. The phone will come with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage which is again expandable using an SD card. It will also feature a 5 Megapixel decent back camera and a 2 Megapixel selfie camera in front. The device will also support 22 Indian languages to provide a simplified interface. The phone will arrive with a variety of pre-installed apps such as JioTV, JioCinema, GoogleAssistant, JioXpressNews, JioSaavn, Whatsapp, JioGames, JioRail and JioVideocall app. The rest of the specifications are still unknown to us.
Launch Date
The much-awaited Jio Phone 3 expected to be launched in India by early 2021. The company has also reduced the price of its predecessor Jio Phone to Rs 699. It seems Reliance Jio wants to clear the stock of the old phones before they release their successor in the market. However, Reliance Jio hasn’t given any official statement given as of now. Once the launch happens, it will be available for booking.
Jio Phone Lite Rumours
According to a 91Mobiles report, Reliance Jio is surveying retailers, seeking opinions on the lite version of Jio Phone. The lite version won’t support the internet and it will probably be called Jio Phone Lite. The report further suggests the handset could be priced at Rs 399. The company may also announce a Rs 50 recharge pack for the phone, The plan benefits may include unlimited free calls to Jio and bundled minutes call to other networks with a validity of 28 days.
Online Booking Date & Procedure
Jio Phone 3 online booking will likely start through the official website which is Jio.com. Users will also be able to register/ pre-order JioPhone 3 from the MyJio app. There might be limited stocks for each booking dates, and the phones will be sold on a first come first serve basis if the demand is high. And we also think that Jio Phone 3 might receive some good response from users as it may come with bundled plans and anyway users need to subscribe to Jio’s plans to enjoy a bunch of benefits including free calling, daily data, SMS, free Jio apps subscription, etc.
Unlike previous JioPhones, in Jio Phone 3, as it’s a smartphone, data can be easily consumed by the users and also shared among others using the hotspot.
