Vivo Android 12 Funtouch OS 12 Update: Supported Phones & Release Date
Vivo is one of the leading smartphone manufacturers around the globe. Every year they launch several smartphones in different price categories, and they push out updates for these smartphones every once in a while. While some manufacturers slack on pushing major Android updates to their smartphones, Vivo is not one of them. Last year Vivo was one of the first OEMs to release the beta build of Android 11 when Google was testing the beta build in their Pixel devices. Later last year, several Vivo smartphones received the Android 11 stable update. This year Vivo has also joined the Android 12 beta program.

Funtouch OS 12
Funtouch OS 12 is the custom Android skin from Vivo. It is based on the Android 12 operating system. It arrives as the successor to the Funtouch OS 11. It brings several new features such as redesigned widget system, Nano Music Player, and Extended RAM. However, the company may bring Android 12 based OriginOS(a replacement of Funtouch OS) to select markets.
Android 11 is no longer the latest Android version. Google has already launched the beta build of Android 12 to give developers ample time to work on their applications and to make them compatible with the upcoming build of Android. We will get more information on this forthcoming Android version in Q4 2021.
Release Date
Following the developer preview build, Google has launched the beta build of Android 12 for the Pixel lineup. If Vivo continues in its footsteps from last year, we will see the beta build of Android 12 for some Vivo flagship devices in September 2021. Google will release the stable build of Android 12 on October 4, which is when OEMs will start working on their version of Android 12. Vivo will have the beta build even after Google releases the stable build of Android. They will eventually push out the stable version in the Q4 of 2021, much like what they did last year.
Will my Vivo phones be eligible for Android 12?
Vivo does not have a strict policy when it comes to Android updates. However, we have witnessed Vivo releasing two major Android updates to most of its smartphones in the past. The entry-level budget Vivo devices only received one major update, but the mid-range and flagship devices did receive two major updates. So Vivo devices that came with Android 10 or Android 11 out of the box are eligible for the Android 12 update. Based on this pattern, we have compiled a list of Vivo devices eligible for the upcoming Android update.
All the smartphones included in this list might not receive the Android 12 update if the company devices something else for a specific model. But if Vivo maintains its pattern, these are the devices that will receive the stable build of Android 12 at the end of 2021 and the start of 2022. This by no means is an official announcement from the company. This is just a speculated list prepared by our time. If any new Vivo device launches with Android 11 now, you can also add that device to this list.
