Android 8.0 Oreo was launched last year, and now smartphone manufacturers are rolling out the Oreo update for their top smartphones; South Korean manufacturer Samsung is the recent one to update their 2017 Galaxy S8 series. And now the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Vivo is the recent one to join the list. The company has announced that it will launch the Android Oreo update for seven smartphones, the first of which will start rolling out in April 2018.

Vivo has revealed through a post in the official forum that their software engineers have been working on Funtouch UI, based on Android 8.0 Oreo, for their smartphones. The first batch will be available to the customer by April but will be in beta. The first smartphone to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update is the Vivo X20. Later, the company will release the update to another of their six devices.

The full list of smartphones that are confirmed to get the Oreo update are:

  1. Vivo X20
  2. Vivo X20 Plus
  3. Vivo X9s
  4. Vivo X9s Plus
  5. Vivo Xplay 6
  6. Vivo X9
  7. Vivo X9 Plus

The additional features in this update of Funtouch UI that will be provided along with the regular Oreo goodies are not yet revealed. The Android 8.0 Oreo update features a redesigned settings menu, Picture-in-Picture, updated notification panel, adaptive icons, and more. Being a Chinese manufacturer, the update will likely be available first in its home country. But if Vivo provides the new update on their official website, Vivo users can flash their device and install it directly. The update will likely be launched in other markets like India around May.
